Woodlands Management
Tackling the issue of invasive species
Project Details
In 2024, the Conservancy initiated our first much-needed woodland management project. Supported by the Jeniam Foundation, the first phase is to remove and control invasive shrubs and vines around the perimeter of Jeniam Meadow. These invasives include privet, multiflora rose, barberry, norway maple, and bittersweet among others. Once cleared, the goal is to replant the understory with healthy native species.
The initial target area will serve as a pilot for the Conservancy’s ongoing woodlands management work, which we hope to fund with additional private donations. Jeniam Foundation is generously sponsoring this first phase of work to help us raise awareness of the importance of woodlands management.
