LATEST NEWS
Pollinator Pathway
The Upper Meadow beyond the Arbor sculpture, at the back of the house, has officially joined New Canaan’s Pollinator Pathway. The meadow is now mown only once each year with the result that the wildflowers can reach full maturity, flowering and seeding. This ironweed is seen throughout the meadow along with goldenrod and increasingly, milkweed which is good news for the Monarch butterflies.
Welcome Benchmarks!
As part of an exciting new Art in the Park initiative, The Conservancy welcomed the arrival of the first two sculptural benches, or Benchmarks, on February 1st, 2024. Sculpted by the Scottish artist, Nigel Ross, the two Benchmarks are the first in a planned trail of five such Benchmarks throughout the Park. While Ross has a couple of his sculptures in the US, the Benchmark Trail is unique both in the US and worldwide.
Weekend Action!
Waveny was a hive of activity this weekend with hardly a car parking space to be found! At least one wedding, numerous Holiday photo sessions in progress and a range of visitors enjoying the balmy weather, especially on Sunday. The Semida family, pictured above, enjoyed the benches in the Walled Garden along with her parents from Ukraine. They are regular visitors from Stamford while the Strother family from Darien . . .
