Waveny House Forecourt

The Forecourt was extensively renovated in 2022 and now offers a welcoming first impression for visitors to both the House and Park.

Project Background

The Waveny House Forecourt had been neglected for many years. Damaged hardscape, minimal plantings, and inadequate irrigation had created a condition that detracted from the splendor of the house and the Park.

Project Details

A phased plan was approved in 2020 and paid for entirely by donations to the Conservancy. Dead and damaged trees were removed to be replaced by twelve dwarf London Plane Trees. Damaged walkways and paving stones were repaired, and the main ramp to the West Porch completely transformed.

Some 400 shrubs, plants, and ground cover were added, along with new irrigation and lighting. Finally, a trellis with climbing roses and clematis was added to the east wall.

As a result, The Forecourt now offers an instantly welcoming first impression for visitors, and since 2022, it has also benefited from seasonal planters installed by Earth Garden.
