Parterre Garden
In partnership with the New Canaan Garden Club, the Parterre Garden was restored with new formal plantings and the renovation of the original brick walls.
Project Background
In June 2018, the Conservancy and the New Canaan Garden Club renovated the parterre gardens with the generous support of the Lois and Harlan Anderson Foundation. This restoration involved new plantings and the reconstruction of the badly damaged existing masonry walls.
Project Details
Today, the Waveny Walled Garden’s care is under the stewardship of the New Canaan Garden Club, of which Antoinette Lapham was a founding member and club president from 1926-28. Mrs. Lapham, who was passionate about garden and landscape design, worked closely with the Olmsted Brothers firm on the layout of the plantings and gardens near the house.
