“In a park we have indeed left the real world and entered the world of fantasy and make-believe, where nature, under the control of art, gives pleasure and rest and escape from today’s worries.”

Humphrey Carver, author Compassionate Landscape

One of Waveny Park Conservancy’s first projects in conjunction with the Town and generous support from the New Canaan Community Foundation, was to tackle the main pedestrian trail leading from South Avenue up to Waveny House.

The goal was to address safety concerns for pedestrians walking in the road along a significant blind curve, as well as to provide a more enjoyable walk or run. Part of the work involved clearing trees downed b y Hurricane Sandy while also clearing invasive undergrowth.
