Entrances
“In a park we have indeed left the real world and entered the world of fantasy and make-believe, where nature, under the control of art, gives pleasure and rest and escape from today’s worries.”
Humphrey Carver, author Compassionate Landscape
Waveny Park Conservancy in partnership with the Town and generous support from the New Canaan Community Foundation identified and tackled an immediate trail need. An extension to the perimeter trail along the South Avenue entrance road leading up to the main house has been completed. This design addressed the safety concerns of pedestrians walking in the road along a significant blind curve. We now have a beautiful trail that has been cleared of invasive vegetation and downed trees remaining from Storm Sandy.
On site for the for the first NCCF check presentation on August 1, 2016 were: from left, Waveny Park Conservancy board members Chris Schipper and Caroline Garrity, donor Tom Nissley, Town Council Chairman Bill Walbert, WPC Chairman Bob Seelert, WPC Vice Chairman Bill Holmes, First Selectman Rob Mallozzi III, Town Councilman Kevin Moynihan, Leo Karl III of Karl Chevrolet and New Canaan Community Foundation, Department of Public Works Assistant Director Tiger Mann, Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman Sally Campbell, contractor Nick Cambareri, and landscape architect Keith Simpson.
